Flashback.
The word "photography" as we know it originated from the Greek word photos meaning "light" and graphein meaing "to draw."
The first photograph was taken by Joseph Nicephore Niepce using the camera obscura, the first pinhole camera. The camera obscura was originally used by people to view or draw images without the intentions of taking photos. Niepce's photograph needed eight hours of light exposure to be seen, but after that it soon disappeared.
Louis Daguerre created a more practical and convenient method of photography called the daguerreotype.
